Draco held up the bright orange bag with the smiling candy corn on it, looking skeptically at Hermione's bedroom door.

"What exactly is this we are doing?" he asked, waiting for her response by checking out the bag she got for him. There was a cape, fake fangs, and fake blood packaged neatly in the plastic bag.

Hermione emerged from her bedroom and Draco had to take a second look, not believing his eyes. Hermione was dressed in a short and shimmery purple and blue dress that puffed out like a ballerina's tutu. To add to her look she sprayed a blue glitter on her body, giving her an other-worldly glow. She grabbed the bag Draco had been searching.

She threw the cape at him, demanding he put it on. "But why?" he asked as she strapped a pair of large white wings to her back.

"Because I told you to," and he complied, not needing anymore convincing. In the summer he spent seeing her he knew when she didn't get her way Miss Know-It-All turned into Miss I'll-Kick-Your-Butt. He threw the cape on and she took the fake teeth out of the package and handed them to him along with dental gum. He looked at her.

"I have a better idea," he said taking out his wand. He muttered a few words and felt an uncomfortable pulling at his jaw. He smiled at Hermione, showing off the fangs he had created. She beamed at him, handing him the fake blood. He looked at it then back at her. She rolled her eyes and took the tube out of the package.

She told him to hold still, scolding him when he moved like a child. Finally she told him to go look in the mirror and he obeyed as she finished applying make-up. Shocked would be the understated emotion he was feeling. Hermione truly transformed his outward appearance, creating a vampire look to his naturally pale features. He grinned at his reflection, excited for what they were going to do.

"So what exactly are we doing?" he asked her as he helped her finish getting ready.

"We're going trick or treating of course," she smiled at his confused look.

"What's that?" he asked, looking down at the bright orange bag again.

"Well you see," she grabbed his hand and pulled him out the door, "we go door to door and when people answer the door we say 'trick or treat!' and they give us candy," she locked the door and hooked her arm around his, guiding the way, "and then at the end of the night we stuff our faces and watch scary movies."

He rolled his eyes, "That's not as cool as what I used to do for Halloween," she looked at him, urging him to go on, "we used to come to the muggle towns and play tricks on them. It was such a laugh," he chuckled to himself but stopped once he saw Hermione's disappointed look.

"No magic tonight," she warned him then skipped ahead to demonstrate how it worked. She rang the doorbell and when an older woman opened the door she shouted the phrase and skipped away shouting a "Thank you!" behind her.

Draco tried it several times before he finally realized there was no tricks involved. They continued their rounds well into the night. Once lights began to go out and kids began to complain of tired feet they returned to Hermione's house. They changed from their costumes and settled down in front of the television.

Hermione picked out a movie and rested her head against Draco's shoulder. She smiled up at him, "have fun tonight?"

He smiled down at her, kissing her forehead, "I actually did." She snuggled up against him and turned up the volume so they could continue their Halloween festivities.
